Are all deals on the Seniors Travel Club discounted?

From our years of running the Seniors Discount Club we know just how important good value and affordability is to our members. At the Seniors Travel Club, we are always doing our best to ensure we’re giving you the best possible price we can with the most value we can add. It’s our promise to you.

I don’t consider myself a senior. Can I join the Seniors Travel Club?

Of course you can! We have a wide range of members who have joined our travel club. Although our ‘bread and butter’ travel deals are made for our senior members, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy them too.

I have no-one to travel with and I don’t want to travel alone. What should I do?

You came to the right place. We were inspired to start the Seniors Travel Club off the back of starting our wonderful online community over at the Seniors Discount Club. We know there are a lot of Australians over sixty who are eager to travel, but have no one to travel with. That’s why we organise group tours with our club members, and can even help you find fellow club members who are travelling solo that wouldn’t mind a companion. We will always do our best to match you up with a fellow member or make sure you can join a group holiday.

Hang on, I want to travel alone. Can I book solo trips through the Seniors Travel Club?

You sure can! We’re here because we want to help our members travel far and wide. Whether that be with a loved one, family members, a group or solo. It’s our job to make sure you get the exact experience you’re after, and that includes helping you book a trip alone!

What you need to know about bookings, booking confirmations and payments

How can I make a booking with the Seniors Travel Club?
Our website offers extensive information, including the latest pricing and special offers. To book the holiday you’re after, all you need to do is click the orange ‘Enquire Now’ button on the page of the holiday. If that doesn’t work, you can always enquire through our enquiry form here.  Bookings can be made by phone or email, so if you cannot use our enquiry forms give us a call on 02 9061 6417. We’re open Monday to Fridays from 9am to 5pm.

What are the deposit and final payment requirements?
Deposit amounts vary depending on the cruise line, itinerary and promotion. We will always tell you over the phone and via email what deposit we require for your booking. Final payment is usually required 3 – 4 months prior to sailing.

How do I know what inclusions are in the special promotion I booked?
Gratuities are mandatory with international cruise lines and some have this inclusive of their fares. Other inclusions, depending on the rate you select, can include drinks and/or Wi-Fi packages and onboard credit. All the information relevant to your booking, including what is included, can be found in your booking confirmation.

How do I find my cruise line reference number?
Once a booking has been made with our team, you will receive an email with a confirmation number. This is the same as the cruise line’s reference number that you will use to log in to their website, to complete your online check-in.

Can I make a name change on my booking if I am unable to travel?
A name change can be made on the booking, as long as there is one remaining original passenger still travelling. Seniors Travel Club fees will apply in addition to any supplier fees applicable at the time of change.

What does it mean when it says ‘Guarantee’ when selecting my cabin?
When you book a ‘guarantee’ cabin, you’re reserving a cabin category, not a specific cabin. The cruise line guarantees that you’ll receive a cabin in the category you reserved or a higher one, at no additional cost, if available. Cabin allocation is at the cruise line’s sole discretion and can occur any time up to the day of the cruise.

We strongly advise against securing guarantee cabins if you are traveling with family or a group, as your cabins are unlikely to be allocated near each other or even on the same deck. Once your cabin has been assigned, cruise lines do not permit changes to the allocated cabin number. Please also note that for oceanview and balcony cabins, your assigned cabin may have an obstructed view due to lifeboats.

Where can I get information about drinks packages, dining packages and shore excursions etc?
Once your booking has been confirmed and your deposit paid, you will then be sent an email that explains how you can  log into the cruise line’s website to manage your booking. This will allow you to see and prebook all packages as well as shore excursions available for your sailing.

How do I pay for my cruise?
Payment can be made via direct deposit to the TravelManagers Bank account as follows or via credit card. Please use your Booking number as the reference.

TravelManagers
Bank: ANZ
Branch: York & Market Sts Sydney
BSB: 012 172
Account No: 4967-59407

My booking has been paid in full, what should I do next?
Complete your online check-in on the cruise line’s website. Create an account, then enter your personal and booking details, using the confirmation/supplier booking number from your confirmation email or invoice.

When should I expect my tickets and final travel documents?
Cruise documents are typically issued 20-50 days before departure and can be accessed via the cruise line’s website after online check-in. Our team may send electronic boarding passes and/or luggage tags for some cruise lines. Documents will not be released if online check-in is incomplete.

What you need to know about travel Insurance, passports, cancellations and refunds

Do I need to purchase travel insurance?
We strongly recommend obtaining additional travel insurance that covers routine and medical emergencies, including evacuation if necessary. Your plan should provide coverage for your age, pre-existing medical conditions, any recent changes in health status, countries you plan to visit, and any hazardous activities you may participate in. Most Travel Insurance companies require you to pay the cost of care upfront and submit a foreign claim once you return home. The ship’s medical centre will provide an itemised receipt of professional services, medications, and supply charges that may be used for claim reimbursement if eligible.  Travel Insurance offers peace of mind by covering unforeseen events. Seniors Travel Club has partnered with Cover-More Travel Insurance and Go Insurance.  Please contact us for a quote.

Do I need a passport for my cruise?
Yes, if your cruise ventures outside of international waters, a valid passport is an absolute requirement. It is crucial that all your identification and travel documentation are meticulously organised and secured well in advance of your departure date. This proactive approach ensures a smooth and stress-free boarding process and prevents any last-minute complications that could jeopardise your travel plans.

What documentation do I need to provide on the day of embarkation?
International cruises require a passport valid for six months beyond the return date. Australian residents on domestic cruises need government-issued photo ID (not a Proof of Age card); a current Medicare card is accepted for those under 18.

Where can I find the Terms and Conditions for my booking?
Seniors Travel Club booking terms were emailed after your initial payment. Additional supplier conditions, like cancellation penalties or non-refundable deposits, may apply and are beyond our control.

How do I cancel or make changes to my booking?
To make a request, please email us with your booking number via our contact us page. For urgent, last-minute requests, please call our team on 02 9061 6417 to speak with a member of our team.

What to pack for your cruise
Essential medicines, travel documents, valuables and breakables should be carried in your hand luggage at all times.  A cruise offers the convenience of unpacking only once after boarding. To ensure you’re packed like a pro and ready for your trip in no time, simply go through this extensive packing list. You can also access our packing lists here.

What is the cancellation fee for my booking?
Cancellation fees vary for each booking and are subject to cruise line penalties. Seniors Travel Club will charge a $110 per person cancellation fee which will apply in addition to any supplier penalties.

How long does it take to receive my refund?
All refunds can take up to 12 weeks from the time of the request, as we will need to wait for all funds to be received back from the cruise line and/or other suppliers.

What you need to know about being onboard a cruise

Can I pay with cash onboard?
Cruise ships have made the transition to a ‘cashless society’  Passengers are given an onboard charge account that can be settled at the end of the cruise.

Do I need to pay for entertainment on a cruise ship?
All live shows are included in your cruise fare, with no cover charge for admission. The entertainment is always in-house on a cruise holiday.

Do I need to tip onboard?
Some cruise ships do include tipping as part of your cruise package.

Is there a doctor on a cruise ship?
While cruise ships aren’t full medical facilities, cruise lines are committed to providing first response and emergency care for guests until they can reach a shoreside medical facility. Most cruise lines offer 24-hour medical services and staff. Cruise lines and travel agents recommend that travellers obtain Travel insurance, travel with sufficient medical prescriptions and devices, and disclose any pre-existing medical conditions before sailing.

Smoking Policies Onboard Cruise Ships
Cruise lines generally have strict policies regarding smoking to ensure the comfort and safety of all passengers. While the specific regulations can vary between different cruise operators and even individual ships, a common practice is to designate specific areas for smoking.

Designated Smoking Areas:

  • Outdoor Decks:
Many cruise ships provide designated smoking areas on open-air decks, often in specific sections that are clearly marked. These areas are typically equipped with ashtrays and are positioned to minimize the impact on non-smoking passengers.
  • Cigar Lounges:
Some luxury cruise lines or larger ships may feature dedicated cigar lounges, providing an enclosed and ventilated space for guests who wish to smoke cigars.
  • Casinos:
In some cases, a portion of the ship’s casino may be designated as a smoking area. However, this is becoming less common as more cruise lines move towards entirely smoke-free indoor environments.

Prohibited Smoking Areas:
It is important to note that smoking is strictly prohibited in the vast majority of areas on a cruise ship. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Cabins and Balconies:
Smoking in cabins, including on private balconies, is almost universally forbidden. This is a crucial safety measure to prevent fires, and violations often result in significant fines.
  • Public Indoor Areas:
All enclosed public spaces, such as restaurants, bars (unless specifically a designated smoking lounge), lounges, theaters, shops, spas, and corridors, are typically smoke-free.
  • Pool Decks (outside designated areas):
While some outdoor areas are designated for smoking, the general pool deck and other open-air public spaces are usually non-smoking.
  • Gangways and Terminal Areas:
Smoking is also generally not permitted while embarking or disembarking the ship, or within the cruise terminal buildings.

Vaping and E-Cigarettes:
The use of e-cigarettes and vaping devices typically falls under the same regulations as traditional smoking. This means they are usually only permitted in designated smoking areas and are prohibited in cabins, balconies, and all indoor public spaces.

Consequences of Violating Smoking Policies:
Cruise lines take their smoking policies very seriously. Violations can lead to:

  • Fines:
Significant monetary penalties are often imposed for smoking in prohibited areas, particularly in cabins.
  • Disembarkation:
In extreme or repeated cases, guests who repeatedly violate smoking policies may be disembarked at the next port of call at their own expense, without any refund.

It is always advisable for passengers to consult their specific cruise line’s website or their onboard literature for the most up-to-date and detailed information on their smoking policy.

Are there laundry services onboard?
Almost all cruise ships have laundry facilities and many provide dry-cleaning services. There is, however, an additional charge for professional laundry and dry-cleaning services. Many ships also have self-service launderettes onboard.

What should I do while in port?
With so many choices, you’ll have a hard time picking! You can explore independently or join a guided tour (also known as a shore excursion). Shore excursions can be booked on the cruise line’s website under ‘manage my booking.’  Cruising is an excellent way to experience new destinations and try everything you’ve ever wanted, all without the hassle of packing and unpacking!

Is there Wifi onboard?
Yes, Wifi is available onboard most ships for a fee. The reception can be interrupted depending on the ship’s location at sea.

What is the dresscode onboard?
When considering what to wear on a cruise, it’s generally best to pack for a relaxed and comfortable experience during the day. Most cruise lines embrace a casual atmosphere for daytime activities, whether you’re lounging by the pool, exploring ports of call, or participating in onboard events. Think comfortable shorts, T-shirts, sundresses, and swimwear. However, some cruise lines, particularly those offering a more traditional or luxurious experience, still feature special occasions like Captain’s Gala evenings. These events are often a highlight of the cruise and typically call for more formal attire. For men, this might mean a suit or a sport coat with dress trousers, while women might opt for a cocktail dress, an elegant pantsuit, or a formal gown. It’s always a good idea to check the specific dress code for your chosen cruise line and itinerary, as requirements can vary. Some cruises may also have themed nights, offering another opportunity to dress up and participate in the fun.

Are wheelchairs available onboard my cruise?
Wheelchairs are often provided on cruise ships for assistance or in case of an accident. However, if you require a wheelchair for daily use, it is advisable to bring your own.

Should I take my hair dryer or shaver?
Most ships have 240-volt outlets available for use. Additionally, hair dryers are typically provided in cabins, so there’s no need to bring your own.

Is there a safety box onboard?
Most cabins are equipped with a safety deposit box. Instructions for setting it up will be provided by the cruise line. Should you require any help with the safety deposit box, please contact the cruise director.

Do I need to participate in onboard activities?
Participation in onboard activities is entirely optional; you are free to choose how you spend your holiday!
